Palestras del Manzano

Location : Río Maipo Valley, on its north side, between the Estero Manzano and the Colorado canyons, at about 30 km southeast from Santiago.

How to get there : Taking the road from Santiago into the Maipo Valley (by bus : Buses Cajón del Maipo, starting from Parque O'Higgins) for 30 km, past the bridge over Manzano creek about 800 m stop at a sign saying : "Bienvenidos jovenes pentecostales". Walk in from here, past a gate, where you have to pay $250 p/p and hike up the slope to reach a trail along a power line. Walk about 300 m east along the trail and try to find a trail that goes straight up the slope towards the rocks, at about 200 m above the valley floor. You can see the crags from the road.

Season : Almost all year round, shady during winter, not good after a long rain. The rock dries fast though. Best seasons : spring to fall. Good sun shelter in the forest.
