El sureño río Futaleufú, ubicado en la Región de Los Lagos y que desagua en el Lago Yelcho junto a la Carretera Austral, proveniente de Argentina ha estado en la mira de nuestra mayor empresa eléctrica y si no hay conciencia aquí en Chile pronto acerca del grave peligro que corre en terminar con la misma suerte que el Biobio ya será demasiado tarde. Entre los defensores en Chile de este río estan grupos como CODERFU, representando una gran mayoría de los pobladores de la zona, Sergio Nuño y LA TIERRA EN QUE VIVIMOS, el Bosque Pumalín y Douglas Tompkins y el Intendente de la Región de Los Lagos. 

The Futaleufú River has become a target for the largest Chilean power company planning to dam one of the most beatiful rivers in South America. It is located 1100 km south of Santiago in the Northern Patagonia. The river runs from the Argentinian steppe through rugged mountain ranges in Chile into the Pacific Ocean. Its clear whitewaters atract kayakers and rafters from all over the world as well as more and more tourists. If there is no quick action in order to preserve this river from the hydroelectric projects, Futaleufú will end up like Biobio further north in Chile.
